Interviewing with Medivet? Our Top Tips

Posting date: 25/09/25

Whether you’re just starting your career or looking for your next steps, interviews can feel daunting, especially when you’re not sure what to expect. At Medivet, we want to help you feel confident and prepared, so you can focus on showing us who you are and what you bring.

Before you dive in, why not explore the different career paths at Medivet? Browse our opportunities and see where your next step could take you:

Interview best practice

  • Research the role, area, and department you’ve applied for: Each role and location at Medivet is unique. Take time to understand the practice and the department you’ve applied for, and think about why it appeals to you.
  • Give clear, thoughtful answers: Share your skills and experiences in a way that connects to the role. We want to hear about your examples or outcomes to bring your point to life.
  • Be yourself: Interviews are as much about you getting to know us as they are about us getting to know you.
  • Show curiosity: Prepare a few questions about the role, team, or the wider Medivet business to show you’re genuinely interested.

Remote interview tips

  • Check your tech in advance: Check your mic, surroundings, and internet connection before joining online.
  • Choose a quiet space with a natural background, or use a virtual one.
  • Speak clearly, pause to avoid talking over others, and be mindful of body language.

Face-to-face interview tips

  • Body language: Eye contact and composure can say a lot about you, your passion, and your confidence. Be confident in yourself and show a real interest and curiosity about your interview and Medivet
  • Show off your pride and passion: As we mentioned in our ‘interview best practice’ section, show us you’re a well-rounded, enthusiastic candidate. Don’t look to just list all your skills and experience. Demonstrate to your interviewer the whole image of who you are and what you bring.
  • Come prepared: Research some common interview questions so you can draft some responses. You can also prep some questions to have ready for the end of the interview. Always have several questions ready about the team, culture, and our mission, and more.

Beyond the interview

Waiting to hear back after an interview can be tense; we’ve all been there before. This advice can help you stay proactive, professional, and prepared while you wait for more information or deciding on your next steps.

  • Follow up: If you were given a timeframe, and don’t hear back, it’s fine to politely check in. Keep it positive and polite to show you’re still keen without being pushy.
  • Preparing documents: If it’s a sponsored veterinary role in the UK you’re applying for, have your key documents ready from the start and make sure everything’s up to date.
  • Negotiations: If you’re offered a role, be open and professional if your offer isn’t quite what you were expecting. But when it comes to having that conversation, base your package on your skills and what would really satisfy you within a role, considering the benefits that are included in your package.

Interview FAQs

In addition to standard interview questions and understanding your skills and experience, you may be asked some that are more specific to veterinary practice. These help us understand how you think, work, and communicate in real-life situations. If you’re earlier in your career and still building experience, you could answer these on how you would do.

  • Tell us about a case you’re proud of and why.
  • How would you show a client that they’re respected and valued?
  • How do you ensure health and safety requirements are met?

Lead the way in veterinary care with Medivet

The important thing to remember is that interviews are a two-way process, and an opportunity for us to learn about you, and for you to learn more about us.

We hope this guidance helps you feel more prepared if you have an upcoming interview with Medivet. The most important thing to remember is not to worry and be yourself - with research, preparation, and confidence, you’ll be ready.
