Graduate Development Programme

Our Graduate Development Programme is a 12-month journey designed to help newly qualified vets gain confidence and thrive in practice. With tailored one-to-one coaching, practical and e-learning modules, and guidance from an experienced mentor, you’ll develop essential skills in a supportive environment. Best of all, you’ll secure a permanent role with Medivet upon completion, starting your career with a team dedicated to your success.

Our veterinary students have the opportunity to work with a committed and trained Extra Mural Studies (EMS) Ambassador in a large number of our clinics. You’ll benefits from a tailor-made plan for each of your stays, together with regular sit-down meetings with your designated EMS Ambassador to make sure you gain the most from your stay.

Our Early Career  Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are the working hours in a practice?
    These can vary depending on your role and will be stated in the job advert. Typically nine hour shift for Vets and 14-hour shifts for Night Vets. Shift patterns apply in 24-hour practices. We'll discuss your final hours during your the interview stage.
  • What annual leave do you offer?
    Annual leave details vary by role and will be shared at interview. You can also find this stated on the job advert.
  • When will I receive my uniform?
    You’ll try on sizes at your induction and we'll order your fresh uniform to be sent to your practice during your first week.
  • I’m an overseas vet; can I still apply?
    Yes – you’ll need to register with the RCVS. As an A-rated sponsor, we can issue a Certificate of Sponsorship for Tier 2 visas.
  • If I see more than one position that I’d like to be considered for, can I reuse my application?
    Yes – use the ‘reuse application’ option and answer any new questions specific to the role.
  • How often do you update vacancies on your careers page?
    Daily. Check back regularly or register your interest for alerts.
  • If I’m unsuccessful in my application, can I apply for another position?
    Yes – if you’ve interviewed, please wait 3–6 months before reapplying for the same or a similar role.
  • I can’t find any vacancies of interest on the website; what should I do?
    Register your interest and we’ll contact you when a suitable vacancy becomes available.

  • What’s a competency-based interview?
    We’ll ask scenario-based questions about your previous experience relevant to the role.
  • What do I need to bring with me to the interview?
    You’ll be told what to bring in advance. If unsure, our recruitment team will help.
  • What should I wear for my interview?
    Smart dress is recommended unless stated otherwise in your invitation.
  • I have a second interview booked and I’ll be seeing a practice. What should I wear?
    Wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes suitable for manual tasks and entering clinical areas.
  • Are my travel costs covered when invited to attend an interview?
    We’re unable to cover travel costs for interviews.

  • I’ve been told my start date and invited to induction. What should I wear for my first day at induction?
    Smart dress is recommended for induction.
  • Is there parking at Medivet practices?
    Most practices have parking for clients. You’re welcome to use a space when attending an interview.
