Supporting The Next Generation of Vets
From Student Veterinary Nurses right the way through to Veterinary Practice Managers, no matter where you are in your veterinary career journey, you’ll always find support at Medivet.
As a community, we’re committed to delivering exceptional care to pets, and just as importantly, to the people who make that possible. That’s why we proudly support the University of Lancashire (UCLan) School of Veterinary Medicine in a multi-year collaboration to build a more inclusive, sustainable future for the profession.
From the University of Lancashire (UCLan)
Peter Holland, Associate Dean for Partnerships and Enterprise at the University of Lancashire’s School of Veterinary Medicine, explains:
“The University has a keen focus on improving access to, and inclusion of, under-represented communities in higher education, and the new School of Veterinary Medicine holds this ethos very much at its core…”
He adds:
“As a ‘widening participation’ sponsor, Medivet is investing significantly in UCLan’s students to enable the School to realise many of its ambitions to broaden the entry pool into veterinary higher education, and is actively supporting their development across the five years for a successful future in the profession.”
From Medivet
Rhian Littlehales, BVSc Cert AVP PgCert (VBM) MRCVS, and Clinical Governance Director at Medivet, states:
"Making sure that the veterinary profession is as diverse as the communities that we serve is not only beneficial for the whole of society but will provide us with a sustainable population of clinicians who enjoy their role.
We are incredibly excited and proud to work with UCLan (University of Lancashire) in supporting their pioneering approach towards improving accessibility, attracting and training veterinary professionals."
Be Part of the Future
Our multi-year partnership aims to create a diverse body of students and ensure that, irrespective of their circumstances, they are supported to achieve a successful future in veterinary medicine and allied animal health professions, which are things we are passionate about here at Medivet.
The key skills and qualities within the curriculum that we’re keen to promote in this collaboration are:
- Communication and problem-solving skills
- Growth mindset development
- Moral reasoning and reflectivity
- Early clinical experience
