Nurse Career Pathways
1| Veterinary Care Assistant
Our Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA) roles with Medivet are the perfect first step for someone considering becoming a Veterinary Nurse. After starting as a VCA, you could then apply for a Student Veterinary Nurse position or complete a relevant degree.
Our VCAs are vital to the daily operations of our practices. They support patient care with activities like inpatient prep and care, maintaining high clinical standards whilst supporting our colleagues in practice to ensure we’re delivering exceptional care.
2| Registered Veterinary Nurse
As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be accountable for the delivery of exceptional care through providing a range of nursing activities under the direction of the Veterinary Surgeon.
Our Registered Veterinary Nurse career pathway is built to support your growth and set you up for success, providing the knowledge, skills, and confidence you need to thrive in your role and take the next steps in your career.
As an RVN at Medivet, you can work towards becoming a Clinical Supervisor, where you’ll play a key role in supporting Early Career clinicians. You can also work towards a Clinical Teacher role where you can provide training, coaching, and mentoring to your colleagues and clinical communities.
If you aren’t sure of your next step and what is right for you, you can focus on clinical career development in your RVN role.
Our clinical governance structure is designed with your career development in mind and is underpinned by our Clinical Communities. These provide forums for our colleagues to seek advice on cases and learn from each other.
You can join as many communities as you wish out of the following:
- Nursing Community
- Exotics Community
- Ophthalmology Community
- Diagnostic Imaging Community
- Surgical Community
- Medicine Community
3| Head Nurse
