Career Boosting Clinical Communities at Medivet
Whether you are just starting your journey as a student veterinary nurse or you are an experienced clinician with a special interest, your growth is driven by the community you work with and the ideas you share.
We launched our Clinical Communities to bring Medivet colleagues together across the country and create a true sense of knowledge sharing and belonging. When you join us in a clinical role, you can gain access to a wealth of knowledge at your fingertips.
What is a Clinical Community?
A Clinical Community consists of groups of vets, nurses, and clinical teams who are passionate about their area of interest.
These communities bridge the gap between clinics, ensuring that, regardless of your location, our colleagues have a direct line to specialists, certificate holders, and like-minded peers. As Dr Rhian Littlehales, BSc(Hons) BVSc CertAVP PgCert(VBM) MRCVS shares, Clinical Communities are a huge reason as to why she’d recommend Medivet for anyone looking for the next step in their veterinary career.
How communities enhance your role with Medivet
Joining a community isn't just about another meeting in the diary; it’s about having a support network in your pocket that benefits your learning and your patients. Within our communities, you have access to:
- Quarterly Virtual Meetings: Discuss the latest developments, relevant topics, and innovations in your field.
- Journal Clubs & Case Discussions: Stay at the forefront of evidence-based medicine through regular peer reviews.
- Direct Access: Use designated platforms to ask for clinical advice or share an interesting case.
- A Seat at the Table: Communities are invited to represent their views at our quarterly Clinical Board meetings, giving you a real voice in how Medivet operates clinically.
Everyone is welcome
We want our communities to be inclusive. It doesn’t matter if you are a Veterinary Nurse looking to upskill or a Specialist Veterinary Surgeon looking to understand how to better support your team's goals; there is a place for you to engage.
While the Clinical Communities are strictly for clinical staff, we value the input of every team member. If you join us in a non-clinical role but want to impact how your practice runs, we still offer platforms for you to help us drive change, such as our Quality Improvement and Ethics and Welfare Committees.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does participating in a Clinical Community count as CPD?
While joining the community itself isn’t formal CPD, the activities within it can absolutely be logged as part of your professional development.
I’m a Student Nurse—can I join?
Absolutely! We highly encourage our students to join. It is one of the best ways to supplement your formal studies with real-world insights.
What is the time commitment?
We know clinic life is demanding. Quarterly meetings are scheduled well in advance, and all activities are optional.
How do I join a Community?
If you are already part of the Medivet family, use the dedicated clinical community email addresses, which can be found on the clinical pages of Medivet Connect, to register for the community that matches your interests.
What communities can I join?
These are the current Clinical Communities available at Medivet:
- Medicine Community
- Surgical Community
- Diagnostic Imaging Community
- Exotics Community
- Ophthalmology Community
- RVN Community
