The Opportunity

Looking for a change?

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Registered Veterinary Nurse with a passion for emergency and critical care. The ideal candidate will be flexible, work well without supervision and have previous experience of working in a busy practice or hospital would be preferred. This is a fixed term position covering MAT leave for 12 months. 

All our clinics share the same software so you will have full access to the patients’ history at all times. Case continuity guaranteed! You will have full access to state-of-the-art facilities such as an orthopaedic theatre, digital x-ray, ultrasound, ECG and much more.

The practice is fully equipped to carry out medical workups and surgical procedures and you would be fully supported by our team of vets, nurses and support teams. Having the support within the practice will enable you to grow, learn and develop in your role, this is an ideal practice to support someone returning to work after a break or just wanting to build on their knowledge.

Equipment of the branch include: ECG/X-Ray/Ultrasound/Operating theatre with plans for a CT in the future.

This is a full time permanent position working 40 hours per week.

Role Accountabilities

In this role you will:

  • Consistently deliver exceptional care to your clients.
  • Support with surgeries and procedures, completing all pre and post procedure activity.
  • Carry out nurse led appointments and schedule 3 activities.
  • Deliver patient monitoring and care.
  • Manage admissions and discharges as directed by the Veterinary team.
  • Complete patient transfers to out of hours or enhanced care.
  • Dispense and check medication.
  • Deliver professional excellence, complying with all regulatory, practice and operational standards.
  • Hold briefings to engage and co-ordinate your team to support the most effective running of the practice.

Your Skills and Experience

  • RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse.
  • Experience of delivering exceptional patient and client care.
  • Experienced in working effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience of supporting Nurse consults, with an understanding of how this contributes to practice performance and efficiency.
  • Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
