Head Registered Veterinary Nurse

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to join the team as Head Veterinary Nurse at our fantastic practice based in Acton. This role is eligible for a £2,000 signing on bonus.

There is a high case load, so the successful nurse will be able to gets hands on.

The role will involve all aspects of nursing as well as assisting with training our student nurses through clinical coaching. This position provides you with the opportunity to develop nursing clinics and use your initiative to promote new ideas and would suit a confident RVN who is ready to take the next step into a Head Nurse position or who has previous Head Nurse experience.

You will be fully supported as we offer management training. You’ll have a friendly and positive attitude and want to progress and expand your knowledge and skills further. Strong mentorship and support will be available to help you develop your career and get the most satisfaction from your job.

The close proximity to our 24-hour Richmond hospital puts us a stone’s throw from advanced diagnostics, including CT and ensures short transfer times for our overnight.

Role Accountabilities

In this role you will:

• Provide clinical leadership to the nursing team.
• Consistently deliver exceptional care to your clients.
• Support with surgeries and procedures, completing all pre and post procedure activity.
• Lead, manage and promote nurse led appointments and Schedule 3 surgeries.
• Deliver patient monitoring and care.
• Manage admissions and discharges as directed by the Veterinary team.
• Complete patient transfers to out of hours or enhanced care.
• Dispense and check medication.
• Deliver professional excellence, implementing and complying with all regulatory, practice and operational standards.
• Inspire your team, sharing new or evolving practice standards and changes to processes.
• Engage, coach and develop your team.
• Pro-actively support and share clinical best practice across practices and the wider Medivet community.

Your Skills and Experience

• RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse.
• Experience of delivering exceptional patient and client care.
• Able to confidently lead a clinical team.
• Experience of implementing a progressive clinical culture through nurse clinics and nurse consultations.
• Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
