Responsibilities

Client care:

  • Deliver exceptional care to clients, each and every day.

Patient care:

  • Support the vet with any operations or procedures when required.

  • Responsible for patient monitoring and care.

  • Ensure all pre or post operation activity is completed.

  • Provide everyday care for patients by carrying out appropriate walking, toileting and feeding.

  • Complete any patient transfers required.

  • Dispense any medication required (under the guidance of the Vet/Lead Vet).

  • All patient care is carried out under the guidance of the Vet/Lead Vet in line with clinical competence.

Standards and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and practice standards and agreed ways of working.

Clinical administration:

  • Send off lab tests.

  • Prepare theatre for procedures.

  • Responsible for cleaning and laundry in the clinic.

Skills, knowledge and experience

  • Ability to work as part of a small team – building relationships with colleagues and being flexible to deliver exceptional care to clients and patients.

  • Able to deliver exceptional care to clients and patients.

  • Able to build relationships with clients - remaining calm under pressure and diplomatic when required.

  • Able to prioritise workload and a range of tasks.

  • Flexible and willing to learn.

  • Understands the role and importance of regulation and compliance.

NB: For those wishing to be considered for future Student Veterinary Nurse opportunities five GCSE subjects at grade A-C (4-9) to include Maths, English Language and Science or equivalent* OR alternative qualifications such as Veterinary Care Assistant Certificate, Animal Nursing Assistant Award or National Diploma in Animal Care supported with full Level 2 Functional Skills qualifications in Maths and English (or above) will also be required.

Our clinics are run by small teams who need to work together effectively to deliver exceptional care to our clients, patients, and colleagues. This means that, from time to time, you may be required to carry out tasks outside your normal duties, where you have the skills, knowledge and experience required
