We are seeking a Part Time Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Medivet Northam.

Northam clinic is a well established practice and has been serving the community for over 50 years. The practice is a lovely modern purpose built building with wildlife pond, summer house and pet sheep as well as being only 5 minutes from Blue Flag beach and AONB.

There is a loyal and longstanding team which consists of 11 Vets (6 FTE), 7 RVNs (5 FTE), 2 SVNs and 11 CCAs (5 FTE). The practice has great facilities including inhouse lab, direct digital x ray, dental x ray, ultrasound, separate dog and cat wards, dogs trust dog friendly clinic, ISFM silver cat friendly clinic, vivarium and tortoise hibernation service, as well as specialisms in opthalmology, dermatology, medicine, exotics and surgery.

This role is working 33 hours per week with 1 in 5 weekends but we are open to discussing other hours for the right candidate. Also, no out of hours after 7pm.

Role Accountabilities

In this role you will:

  • Consistently deliver exceptional care to your clients.
  • Support with surgeries and procedures, completing all pre and post procedure activity.
  • Carry out nurse led appointments and schedule 3 activities.
  • Deliver patient monitoring and care.
  • Manage admissions and discharges as directed by the Veterinary team.
  • Complete patient transfers to out of hours or enhanced care.
  • Dispense and check medication.
  • Deliver professional excellence, complying with all regulatory, practice and operational standards.
  • Hold briefings to engage and co-ordinate your team to support the most effective running of the practice.

Your Skills and Experience

  • RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse.
  • Experience of delivering exceptional patient and client care.
  • Experienced in working effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience of supporting Nurse consults, with an understanding of how this contributes to practice performance and efficiency.
  • Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
