  3. Dorchester

We have an exciting opportunity for a Night Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and experienced team at Medivet Dorchester 24 Hour, a recently refurbished, multi-disciplinary hospital located just a short drive from the stunning Jurassic Coast.

Dorchester 24 Hour has a strong regional presence, providing out-of-hours care for five Medivet branches and seven non-Medivet practices. You will be working within a highly skilled and supportive team, which includes certificate holders in diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, dermatology, and emergency and critical care, alongside several colleagues who are currently studying towards surgical and medical qualifications. This creates an excellent environment for professional development, collaboration, and learning.

Our hospital is fully equipped to deliver exceptional patient care, with facilities including:

  • CT scanner (supporting internal and outpatient referrals)
  • Digital x-ray and ultrasound
  • Endoscopy
  • Two sterile surgical suites
  • Dedicated in-house laboratory
  • Hydrotherapy unit (staffed two days per week)
  • Peripatetic physiotherapist
  • Isolation facilities
  • Separate dog and cat wards, with ISFM Silver Cat Friendly status
  • 24/7 care supported by an ECC-certified night vet and nursing team

This is an excellent opportunity for a veterinary surgeon with a minimum of 4 years proven UK experience to thrive in a busy, forward-thinking hospital environment while enjoying the lifestyle benefits of the Dorset coast. This position will be a sole charge role, so confidence and previous experience in carrying out all aspects of the duties independently, (supported by an RVN) is essential and ECC experience ideal.

The role is offered on a rota of two night shifts (Monday and Tuesday) every three weeks, with working hours of 18:45–09:00. Averaged weekly hours of 9.5 per week.

If you are passionate about high-quality veterinary care and want to be part of a dynamic, high-performing team, we would be delighted to hear from you.

For a friendly, initial conversation please contact joanne.gray@medivet.co.uk.
