Medivet Hucknall are hiring for a Head Veterinary Nurse!

Medivet Hucknall is a busy, well-equipped, purpose-built clinic. The clinic features an operating theatre, prep area, digital X-ray, ultrasound, and endoscopy, with access to MRI and CT scanners at the nearby East Midlands Referrals orthopaedic centre, and is close to our 24-hour Alfreton Hospital.

You will be working alongside a Lead Vet, an experienced Vet, three RVNs, two Client Support Assistants, and an Office Manager — all managing a busy caseload while delivering excellent patient care.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take the next step in your clinical career, based in a great location with easy transport links to Nottingham, Derby, Sheffield and beyond.

This is a full-time, permanent position (40 hours per week) with a 1 in 4 Saturday morning rota.

Role Accountabilities

In this role you will:

  • Consistently deliver exceptional care to your clients.
  • Support with surgeries and procedures, completing all pre and post procedure activity.
  • Carry out nurse led appointments and schedule 3 activities.
  • Deliver patient monitoring and care.
  • Manage admissions and discharges as directed by the Veterinary team.
  • Complete patient transfers to out of hours or enhanced care.
  • Dispense and check medication.
  • Deliver professional excellence, complying with all regulatory, practice and operational standards.
  • Hold briefings to engage and co-ordinate your team to support the most effective running of the practice.

Your Skills and Experience

  • RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse.
  • Experience of delivering exceptional patient and client care.
  • Experienced in working effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience of supporting Nurse consults, with an understanding of how this contributes to practice performance and efficiency.
  • Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
