Newcastle under Lyme, Staffordshire

We’re looking for a Veterinary Surgeon with a strong interest in surgery to join our friendly, well-established practice. This role is ideal for someone keen to develop their surgical skillset and an interest in orthopaedics would be a bonus. You’ll work alongside our Branch Partner, Paul, who has a strong medical bias—so a surgically minded vet would perfectly complement the clinical offering within the practice.

You’ll be joining a close-knit, supportive team of Partner Paul, a Head Veterinary Nurse, Registered Veterinary Nurse, Veterinary Care Assistant, and two Client Care Assistants, all dedicated to delivering high-quality, personal care to our loyal client base. The practice is well-equipped with digital x-ray, ultrasound, in-house lab facilities, and a dedicated prep and theatre space.

This role includes one day of sole charge per week, so we’re looking for someone confident in their clinical decision-making who enjoys a balance of autonomy and team support. We also offer excellent opportunities for progression, including access to our clinical communities and support for further development, with funding available for certificates.

This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week, with a future weekend rota of 1 in 3 Saturdays (09:00 – 14:00). Your career matters to us, and we’re committed to supporting your growth in a role aligned with your clinical interests.

Your career means more than a rota and a job title, that’s why we offer:

Health and wellbeing

  • Private Medical Insurance and Health Cash Plan from day one
  • 24/7 counselling and wellbeing support
  • Life Assurance 3 x salary

Annual leave

  • 5 weeks’ annual leave plus Bank Holidays, rising with length of service
  • Extra ‘Day for You’, a paid day off just for you

Learning and development

  • £1,500 CPD allowance plus 3 days’ paid leave per year
  • Access to Clinical Communities, internal CPD and our 24-hour hospitals
  • Funded certificates and internal career pathways

Additional support

  • RCVS, VDS and BVA fees paid
  • Relocation support and Visa sponsorship available
  • Sabbatical options based on length of service

Lifestyle

  • Cycle to Work
  • Season Ticket loans
  • Discounts on Medivet products and services

About you
