We have a fantastic opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and loyal team based at Medivet St Ives, Cornwall — a truly special and beautiful location on the South West coast, known for its crystal-clear waters, golden beaches, artistic heritage and vibrant coastal charm. Regularly named one of the UK’s most beautiful seaside towns, St Ives offers a relaxed lifestyle with excellent restaurants, independent shops, surf spots, and access to the South West Coast Path.

The practice itself is just a short walk from both the town centre and the beach, and you can even enjoy stunning views across the bay from the practice windows.

Medivet St Ives is a compact, well-organised and welcoming surgery, featuring two consulting rooms, a well-equipped theatre, prep area, a spacious reception, separate staff room, and its own car park. We’re kitted out with all the usual toys you’d expect from a well-established small animal practice, including in-house laboratory equipment for haematology and biochemistry, digital x-ray, ultrasound, dental equipment including a scaler and polisher, and separate dog and cat kennels.

The team at St Ives includes a highly experienced Head Nurse, a Student Veterinary Nurse and a Client Care Assistant who have built strong relationships with our loyal client base and are passionate about delivering high standards of care.

This role is largely sole charge, so we’re ideally looking for a vet with at least five years’ UK experience who is confident with routine surgery, diagnostics and consultations, and who enjoys building long-term client relationships.

Ideally this position will be part-time over three days per week, but we’re happy to be flexible for the right person and will also consider full-time applicants if preferred. The rolling rota offers genuine work-life balance, giving you the time and space to enjoy the Cornish lifestyle while continuing to develop your clinical skills in a supportive and community-focused environment, with only 1 in 3 Saturdays only 8:30 - 12:30. If you’re looking to embrace a slower pace of life outside of work, while thriving in a fulfilling, fast-paced and trusted clinical setting, we’d love to hear from you.

Please contact joanne.gray@medivet.co.uk for a friendly initial conversation.
