As a Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA), you will support our nurses and vets with inpatient procedures and the day-to-day care of our patients, helping to deliver exceptional standards of care to our clients, patients, and colleagues at all times. We are looking for someone with previous experience working in a veterinary practice who is confident handling animals and has experience monitoring anaesthesia. A full driving licence is essential, as you will be required to accompany vets when transporting patients to our Hendon Hospital for surgical procedures. Regular reception duties are also part of this role, so experience working in a client-facing reception environment is required. This opportunity would suit a confident, enthusiastic, and outgoing individual who has excellent customer service skills and enjoys working as part of a supportive team. This is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday at our Mill Hill branch. The role also includes working one full weekend in every three at Hendon 24-Hour Hospital. In addition, you should expect to work 2-3 bank holidays per year and participate in a shared on-call rota, providing support to Hendon 24-Hour Hospital for approximately 2-3 weeks per year.

Your career means more than a rota and a job title, that’s why we offer:

Health and wellbeing

  • Health Cash Plan from day one
  • 24/7 counselling and wellbeing support
  • Life Assurance 3 x salary

Annual leave

  • 5 weeks’ annual leave plus Bank Holidays, rising with length of service
  • Extra ‘Day for You’, a paid day off just for you

  • Cycle to Work
  • Season Ticket loans

About you

You’re skilled at providing exceptional client care and are passionate about caring for pets.  You’re a team player who wants to make a real difference in a practice that values and supports you.

We welcome applications from candidates able to prioritise, remain calm under pressure and who are flexible and willing to learn.

This role is not suitable for young workers in line with Health and Safety Executive (government) direction due to the expected duties of the role. Therefore, you will be asked to confirm that you are over the age of 18 as part of the application process.

What you’ll be doing

Typically, in this role, you’ll:

  • Deliver exceptional care to clients, supporting surgeries and procedures, complying with all regulatory, practice and operational standards
  • Deliver patient monitoring and care to pets, including walking, toileting and feeding
  • Work collaboratively within a supportive team
