Night Registered Veterinary Nurse – Medivet Southend 24-Hour Hospital
Medivet Southend is a busy and well-equipped 24-hour hospital that supports a wide network of surrounding branches, offering a varied mix of medical, surgical and emergency cases. We are looking for a Night Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our dedicated night team and help provide exceptional care to our patients throughout the night. This is a permanent role based on a 7 on, 14 off working pattern, covering night shifts from 8pm to 8am, averaging 28 hours per week.
As a Night RVN at Southend, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to emergency and inpatient cases, working closely with the night vet and support team. The role involves triaging emergencies as they arrive, assisting with examinations, stabilisation and procedures, and monitoring critical care patients using the hospital’s full range of diagnostic and monitoring equipment. You will carry out all core nursing duties, including placing IV lines, taking blood samples, running in-house diagnostics, administering medication and managing fluid therapy, while ensuring each patient receives attentive and compassionate care tailored to their needs.
Throughout the night, you will play a vital role in maintaining the smooth running of the hospital. This includes managing inpatient wards, maintaining accurate and detailed clinical notes, ensuring a clean, organised and safe working environment and preparing the hospital for any emergency cases that may come in. The caseload is consistently varied, offering excellent exposure for nurses who enjoy clinically focused, hands-on work.
This position is an excellent opportunity for an RVN who thrives in a fast-paced hospital environment and has a passion for emergency and critical care. You will have the autonomy to use your full nursing skillset with the support of an experienced and welcoming team. Whether you are looking to build your confidence with complex cases, progress further in ECC or take on a role with genuine impact, Southend 24-Hour Hospital offers a rewarding and progressive environment
