Medivet Newton-le-Willows is looking for an experienced and motivated Lead Veterinary Surgeon to take the next step in their career and help take the reins of this charming, community-rooted practice. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of a clinic with strong local ties and untapped potential, backed by the support of Medivet’s regional team and network of practices. Potential to explore Branch Partnership with the right candidate.

Set in a quaint, converted house on the high street, the practice has a loyal and friendly client base who value the personal care and continuity we offer. With a compact layout including one consult room and a small theatre, it has all the essentials and core diagnostic tools. The environment is full of character and ready for a fresh chapter – the ideal canvas for someone with a clear clinical vision and the drive to lead. There is potential for future practice development and growth, and this role offers the rare and exciting chance to play a lead in that journey.

This is a full-time position working 40 hours over four or five days on a condensed working week, with potential for part-time hours available for the right candidate. Weekends will be 1 in 6 at the Chorley practice. You’ll work alongside a committed team including a Head Nurse, Client Care Assistant and Practice Manager, and will have access to collaboration with nearby Medivet clinics and our 24-hour hospital for support with more complex cases.

We’re looking for a veterinary surgeon with at least five years’ UK experience in small animal practice, strong general practice skills, and confidence working sole-charge. You’ll need excellent communication skills and a natural ability to inspire and develop your team, while building long-term relationships with clients. Soft tissue or orthopaedic-focused PgCerts a huge advantage although not essential, most importantly you’ll bring a genuine passion for delivering outstanding patient care and a readiness to make your mark.

This is the perfect opportunity for someone who is ready to take real accountability of a practice, lead with purpose, and be part of an exciting relaunch with long-term potential. With the support of Medivet’s clinical leadership structure, learning and development opportunities, and a collaborative network of practices around you, this role offers scope to thrive professionally while enjoying a positive work-life balance.
