Do you love cats and want a job where you can spend your weekends caring for them?
We are looking for a reliable, caring and enthusiastic Cattery Assistant to join our team at Medivet Hornsey on a 3-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for an extension.
This is a hands-on role caring for cats staying in our cattery and would be perfect for someone who is passionate about animals, takes pride in their work and enjoys providing excellent care.
What you'll be doing
As a Cattery Assistant, you'll play an important role in making sure our feline guests are happy, comfortable and well cared for. Your duties will include:
- Feeding cats and providing fresh water
- Cleaning and maintaining cattery accommodation to a high standard
- Preparing and maintaining clean, comfortable areas for our guests
- Spending time observing and interacting with the cats
- Following individual feeding and care instructions
- Monitoring cats and reporting any concerns
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
- Supporting the wider team with general cattery duties
Your working hours
You will be required to work every Saturday and Sunday throughout the contract:
Morning: 9:00am – 12:00pm
Afternoon: 4:30pm – 6:30pm
There will also be a requirement to work some Bank Holidays.
The split shifts provide a break in the middle of the day, making this role particularly suitable for someone looking for regular weekend work.
About you
Most importantly, you will need to genuinely love cats.
We're looking for someone who is:
- Caring, patient and attentive
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable working independently
- Happy getting stuck into cleaning and practical tasks
- Responsible and trustworthy
- Able to follow instructions carefully
- Confident handling and interacting with cats
- Available to commit to every weekend during the contract
- 18 years old or over
Previous experience working with cats, in a cattery, veterinary practice or animal-care environment would be an advantage, but is not essential. Training will be provided for the right person.
Why join us?
This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience caring for cats within a veterinary environment, while working alongside a friendly and supportive team.
If you're dependable, hardworking and would love the opportunity to spend your weekends looking after cats, we'd love to hear from you.
Please note: Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be aged 18 or over and able to commit to the required weekend and Bank Holiday shifts.
