Stanstead Abbotts, Ware, Hertfordshire

Salary: Competitive + CPD + Professional Fees Paid

Are you an experienced Veterinary Surgeon looking for a role that offers variety, flexibility and genuine career development?

We're seeking a confident and adaptable Veterinary Surgeon to support our well-established Medivet practices across Stevenage, Stanstead Abbotts, Mansfield Cottage, Welwyn Garden City (Mill Green Road), Little Hadham, Potters Bar, Cheshunt, and Enfield 24-Hour Hospital for bank holiday and on-call commitments.

This is an exciting opportunity for a vet with at least 3 years' UK small animal experience who enjoys working within different practice environments while building strong relationships with multiple teams. Much of the work may involve sole charge, so we're looking for someone who is confident consulting independently and performing routine surgical procedures.

Why Join This Region?

You'll be joining a thriving network of practices led by experienced Branch Partners, Lead Vets and highly supportive clinical teams. The region is known for its collaborative culture, with vets and nurses working closely together and sharing expertise across sites.

Our teams have a wide range of clinical interests and advanced skills, creating excellent opportunities for learning and professional growth. Areas of expertise include:

  • Internal Medicine
  • Soft Tissue Surgery
  • Dentistry
  • Diagnostic Imaging
  • Cardiology

In addition, Stanstead Abbotts is equipped with endoscopy facilities, whilst our Enfield 24-Hour Hospital provides access to an outstanding team of experienced emergency and inpatient clinicians.

To ensure you feel fully supported, you'll be paired with a dedicated veterinary "Buddy" who will remain a trusted source of guidance and support throughout your journey with Medivet.

Clinical Facilities

Across the region you'll have access to excellent equipment and facilities, including:

  • Digital radiography
  • Ultrasound
  • In-house laboratory services
  • Endoscopy at Stanstead Abbotts
  • Access to 24-hour hospital facilities and referral support

As part of the wider Medivet network, you'll also benefit from extensive clinical collaboration, career development opportunities and access to specialist expertise.

The Role

This position offers the security of a permanent role whilst providing the variety and professional stimulation of working across multiple practices.

Working Pattern

  • 4-day working week (36 hours)
  • Flexibility to support planned holiday cover across the region
  • Variable day off each week depending on business needs
  • Approximately 2 Bank Holidays per year
  • Approximately 2 weeks of on-call cover per year
  • 1–2 Extra Rotational Shifts (ERS) annually

You'll enjoy an excellent work-life balance while broadening your clinical experience through exposure to diverse caseloads, teams and practice styles.

This role offers a unique opportunity to develop your clinical confidence, influence multiple teams and make a meaningful impact across a successful and supportive region
