About us

We are a small, friendly diagnostic laboratory, and place a strong emphasis on client care and service quality. We are UKAS-accredited to the new ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard, and provide diagnostic services in clinical pathology, microbiology and molecular biology.  Our laboratory is staffed by highly trained, motivated and experienced biomedical scientists, and specialists in Clinical Pathology, Internal Medicine, and Microbiology.  Our clients are predominantly first opinion companion animal clinics, and the workload is interesting and varied. 
This is an exciting time to join our expanding laboratory. We have recently grown our premises and laboratory teams. We plan to begin a resident training program in 2022 and are looking forward to extending our range of in-house testing.

The role

We are seeking a Veterinary Clinical Pathologist to join our Lab Services on a full time, permanent basis.
 
You will contribute to the delivery of an efficient and comprehensive veterinary pathology service.

Key accountabilities

• Contribute to the delivery of a timely diagnostic service in clinical pathology, with an emphasis on cytology reporting
• Liaise with our veterinary clients by phone or email, to provide advice on appropriate diagnostic testing and interpretation of laboratory results
• Contribution to the evaluation of new methodologies and equipment
• Together with the veterinary team, review (at least annually) the current test repertoire to ensure that the most optimal and up-to-date profiles and tests are offered
• Contribute to scientific staff training and mentoring
• Contribute to the supervision of veterinary undergraduate and postgraduate training in Clinical Pathology, as required
• Participate in maintaining the laboratory Quality Standard, including contributing to regular case discussions
• Participate in client engagement events; generate client-focused content for our internal training platforms
• Maintain personal scientific development. Comply with RCVS and any specialty CPD requirements

Skills and experience

• Candidates must be eligible to hold membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS), and have a postgraduate qualification in Veterinary Clinical Pathology (FRCPath, ECVCP or ACVP)
