The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to Join our Forest Row practice as a Head Registered Veterinary Nurse.

The clinic has a good surgical and medical caseload, which will enable you to develop your nursing skills fully. You will be supported by 3 Vets, a Registered Veterinary Nurse, two Student Veterinary Nurses and Client Care Assistants.

Our Forest Row practice boasts 3 consult rooms, separate dog and cat wards, large prep area, theatre, large waiting room and parking. 

This position provides you with the opportunity to develop nursing clinics and use your initiative to promote new ideas. This is a full time permanent position, covering 40 hours per week You will also be part of a weekend rota, covering 1:6 full weekends at our Faygate Hospital.

Role Accountabilities

In this role you will:

  • Provide clinical leadership to the nursing team.
  • Consistently deliver exceptional care to your clients.
  • Support with surgeries and procedures, completing all pre and post procedure activity.
  • Lead, manage and promote nurse led appointments and Schedule 3 surgeries.
  • Deliver patient monitoring and care.
  • Manage admissions and discharges as directed by the Veterinary team.
  • Complete patient transfers to out of hours or enhanced care.
  • Dispense and check medication.
  • Deliver professional excellence, implementing and complying with all regulatory, practice and operational standards.
  • Inspire your team, sharing new or evolving practice standards and changes to processes.
  • Engage, coach and develop your team.
  • Pro-actively support and share clinical best practice across practices and the wider Medivet community.

Your Skills and Experience

  • RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse.
  • Experience of delivering exceptional patient and client care.
  • Able to confidently lead a clinical team.
  • Experience of implementing a progressive clinical culture through nurse clinics and nurse consultations.
  • Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
