The Opportunity

Here at Medivet we are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join us on our journey to modernise our core applications, strengthen our ways of working, and provide technical coaching and mentoring where required. This role will play a key part in influencing the future direction of technical innovation across Engineering.

Role Accountabilities

  • Develop and support complex changes through production.
  • Work with Engineering leadership to shape Engineering direction.
  • Drive simplification, effectiveness, and efficiency across the delivery lifecycle.
  • Highlight and action positive change across engineering ways of working.
  • Utilise technology to drive innovation across Engineering and the wider delivery community.
  • Actively coach and mentor less experienced engineers
  • Champion continuous improvements in our engineering, testing, deployment, and delivery processes.
  • Instigate positive change to reduce Engineering time spent delivering business value.
  • Collaborate with senior technologists to deliver optimal solutions to business needs.
  • Deliver optimum code-level changes to support business needs.

Your Skills and Experience

  • At least five years of proven experience in software engineering.
  • Possess a strong understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Advanced programming skills, with proficiency in languages such as C#, .NET core, Entity Framework, TypeScript, and SQL.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript frameworks like React or Angular.
  • Extensive experience with cloud computing, particularly Microsoft Azure, to leverage its services and features for enhanced, frequent, and efficient releases.
  • Strong expertise in (Azure) DevOps practices, services, and CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, and YAML.
  • Proficient in source control management with Git, encompassing various branching strategies and collaborative workflows.
  • Knowledge of security principles and best practices, including threat modelling and defensive programming, especially when handling sensitive data.
  • Solid understanding of Agile methodologies, such as Scrum, to support collaborative and iterative development processes.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to provide technical guidance and influence the product’s direction.
  • Experience in cross-platform engineering to ensure consistent data usage and functionality across different platforms.
  • Skilled in API design and integration, with a thorough understanding of RESTful services.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to lead engineering teams, make informed decisions, and effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.


  • Possess a strong understanding of software architecture, including principles, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Have experience with database design and development, particularly using Microsoft SQL Server or similar database technologies.
  • Be knowledgeable about containerization and virtualization technologies such as Kubernetes.
  • Have experience with legacy systems, particularly in upgrading, maintaining, and integrating systems built on older Microsoft technologies like Windows Forms or WPF
