The Opportunity

We are looking for a Part Time Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to come and join our Shawbirch practice.

As a Head Nurse of Shawbirch, a lovely small branch in a friendly village in Telford you will help to run and manage a team of 1 vet and 1 patient care assistant and continue to help support and grow the branch throughout your time in this role. You will work closely with the regional operations director to disseminate information and implement changes. You will also be responsible for the training of our junior team member.

This position is part time working an average of 28 hours per week which includes 1 in 6 full weekends at our hospital in Shrewsbury. To also be a part of our bank holiday and 2nd on call rota at our 24hr hospital in Shrewsbury, which is on a minimalistic basis. We are very proud of the hospital and the service it offers to all their clients and our branch clients. A purpose built hospital with great facilities including digital x-ray, ultrasound, hydrotherapy treadmill and a newly installed CT scanner.

Medivet Shawbirch is a small practice nestled in the beautiful county of Shropshire, a short drive away from the picturesque Iron Bridge World Heritage Site and the Wrekin hills. Telford shopping centre is only 10 minutes away from, the practice which has over 160 stores, cafes and restaurants.

Role Accountabilities

  • Complete administrative tasks such as health and safety, practice standards, health care plan, debt collection, insurance and finances.
  • Provide first class clinical care through consultations, procedures and monitoring.
  • Complete clinical handover and arrange transfer of any patient needing out of hours or enhanced care.
  • Provide exceptional client care giving clear updates on patients, resolving issues as they arise.
  • Observe the highest standards of regulatory, practice and operational compliance.
  • Prepare accurate estimates for clients, ensuring payment and minimising debt.
  • Maximise capacity through the most effective utilisation of clinical skills.
  • Hold engaging clinical meetings with veterinary and nursing teams.
  • Support and carry out colleague clinical mentoring / development.
  • Pro-actively support and share clinical best practice within and across clinics and the wider Medivet community.

Your Skills and Experience

  • RCVS registered.
  • Small animal practice experience.
  • Experience leading a team
  • A client-oriented approach, with excellent communication skills.
  • Experience of working to the highest medical standards.
  • Experience of working with a team to develop a practice.
  • Experience of building trusting relationships with colleagues, and working effectively as part of a team.
  • A great communicator, you will be an outstanding and positive example to others.
