Lead Veterinary Surgeon
The role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Veterinary Surgeon at our Tilehurst practice.
The successful candidate will be a driven, dynamic, ambitious individual with exceptional communication skills. We are looking for someone with at least 2 years of UK (or UK equivalent) small animal experience who practices to a very high standard using an evidence based approach.
This is a sole charge role, supported by a Head Nurse and Student Nurse.
Partnership opportunities are available for the right candidate, who shows an interest/experience in management and business, as well as strong veterinary skills.
This role covers 39 hours a week, spread across 4 days per week, providing great work-life balance. The shift pattern includes 1:3 half or 1:6 full weekends. We can also offer flexible working patterns please email carlie.smith@medivet.co.uk to discuss what you are looking for.

- Salary up to £75,000 per annum depending on experience

We can also support Certificates of Sponsorship for a Tier 2 (General) Visa if you meet the criteria and are eligible to register as a veterinary surgeon with the RCVS upon arrival in the UK.
Key accountabilities
You will provide high standards of clinical care to your clients and patients and direction and leadership to colleagues in practice, to ensure delivery against agreed performance measures.
You will be responsible for the financial and operational performance of your practice and overall team performance and engagement.
You will need to ensure the delivery of exceptional clinical quality and care standards in your practice always encouraging a progressive clinical culture.
You will follow Medivet policies and procedures and ensure they are implemented in your practice and adhered to by all your team (e.g. Medivet preferred drug policy)
Review Clinical Dashboards regularly and create plans and actions from these to include supporting your team to achieve.
You will work with your regional management team, Head Nurse and practice colleagues to deliver exceptional care whilst driving your practice forward.
Skills and experience
You must be a registered Veterinary Surgeon with the RCVS.
Ideally, you will have at least 2 years of UK (or UK equivalent) veterinary experience.
Branch
Medivet Tilehurst boasts many facilities, such as separate cat and dog wards, an in-house laboratory and x-ray facilities. The practice is support by Medivet 24 Hour Wokingham, the hospital in the Wokingham region.
The practice is located in a lovely precinct with ample parking, the local train station is half a mile. the practice has easy access to Oxford, Reading and London.
