We’re currently looking for a Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join our Chertsey practice to lead and support a team of vets and nurses and work in collaboration with the regional team.

You will be in a well-equipped practice that offers a wide range of services with ease of access to nearby Medivet practices that specialise in orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, dermatology, medicine, ultrasonography, dentistry, exotics and ophthalmology.

The Role

This role covers 40 hours a week, spread across 4 working days per week, providing great work-life balance.

We also offer relocation allowances should you move more than 50 miles from your current home address.

We can also support Certificates of Sponsorship for a Tier 2 (General) Visa if you meet the criteria and are eligible to register as a veterinary surgeon with the RCVS upon arrival in the UK.

 

Key Accountabilities

You will provide high standards of clinical care to your clients and patients and direction and leadership to colleagues in practice, to ensure delivery against agreed performance measures.

You will be responsible for the financial and operational performance of your practice and overall team performance and engagement.

You will need to ensure the delivery of exceptional clinical quality and care standards in your practice always encouraging a progressive clinical culture.

You will follow Medivet policies and procedures and ensure they are implemented in your practice and adhered to by all your team (e.g. Medivet preferred drug policy)

Review Clinical Dashboards regularly and create plans and actions from these to include supporting your team to achieve.

You will work with your regional management team, Head Nurse and practice colleagues to deliver exceptional care whilst driving your practice forward.

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' UK small animal practice (or UK equivalent) experience.

You must have a client-oriented approach and excellent communication skills, work to a very high standard both medically and surgically and have the drive and ambition to help develop this practice further.

You’ll be competent in clinical examination and surgery and confident working sole charge or as part of the wider team. You will also display good communication skills and the desire to share your knowledge and skills by being an outstanding, positive example to others.

Experience or willing to learn laparoscopic spays is desirable

We are a busy veterinary practice located in the leafy commuter town of Chertsey neighbouring local businesses & amenities, and access to good transport links.

The local area is a thriving community with an obvious love of animals of all shapes and sizes. We are lucky enough to have a dedicated active list of clients who have been with the practice since it first opened 7 years ago.

We have a lovely, friendly team, with extremely capable nurses, and a wealth of experience and skills from our vet and nursing team. The practice sees a varied caseload and carry out laparoscopic spays and laparoscopic biopsies.
